Logistics Co-ordinator

P S Analytical are a family run business based in Orpington.  Designing and providing industrial analysers to large corporations all over the world, we are currently looking for a full-time logistics co-ordinator to join our busy team. 

We need a great communicator, as you will be dealing with people at all levels of business from all over the world. This is a key role within P S Analytical and essential to our continued success, so we need someone who is able to get stuck in from the get-go.  Ideally with at least 5 years’ experience in international shipping, you will also need good IT skills and the ability to manage your day to fulfil schedules and deadlines.  We are looking for someone who is able to work independently but is also a team player with a flexible "can do" approach to working.

The working day will be busy and varied, working across all aspects of shipping, from sourcing the correct bespoke packaging, arranging the carriers, packing the products, completing necessary paperwork for shipping and liaising with customs and excise.

Your role will cross over with our purchasing department, and you will be working closely with the accounts, production and sales teams. A forklift licence would be helpful but is not essential. 

The position includes 28 days annual leave inclusive of Bank holidays, and the option to purchase additional holiday after 1 year of employment. We also give an annual bonus, dependant on company and personal achievements.

We have a large product range that includes both laboratory and online process analysers for a wide range of applications for various industrial and academic sectors. We are a dynamic rapidly growing company offering high quality products with a strong emphasis on providing bespoke technical solutions.

We are looking to recruit a suitable candidate to join our technical support team. The primary job function of this position is to provide installation, commissioning, training, and technical support for our online and offline instrumentation product range. The ideal candidate should have an analytical chemistry background with a good knowledge of sampling and analytical instrumentation. In addition to the main job functions there will also be opportunities to assist in the development, optimisation, and testing of new and existing products. Working within our laboratory and at worldwide customer locations you will be providing client and inhouse technical support.  This type of work is quite varied and may include demonstrating products, analysing non routine samples, or working with our instrumentation to ensure that optimal performance and specifications are obtained. The role will offer the opportunity to travel internationally, typically over short durations to install, commission and provide training to end users on our instrumentation. Good communication skills and an ability to adapt to different and sometimes challenging working environments are essential. Some experience in working in the oil and gas industry is desirable but not essential.

Your profile:

Job Title: Laboratory Technician (Industrial Placement Student)

Laboratory Technician

Responsible to: Quality Control Manager/Research and Technical Support Manager

Based at: P S Analytical, Orpington, UK

Job Purpose Summary: To perform quality control testing of PSA products and to assist with the analysis and preparation of samples, standards and chemical reagents.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

1.     Perform analytical performance testing on all PSA products.
2.     Prepare chemical reagents, standards and samples for general laboratory use.
3.     Communicate and document quality control issues on the component and manufacturing level to line manager, suggest and implement          improvements.
4.     Clean and prepare glassware for trace metal analysis.
5.     Provide quality control testing records to monitor performance trends.
6.     Provide technical support to all departments within PSA, distributors and customer cliental.
7.     Assist in the maintenance of PSA equipment and maintain a clean area of work within the laboratory.
8.     Analyse samples for potential sales and consultancy.
9.     Demonstrate products and applications to assist sales department.
10.   Document all scientific findings and produce in house and customer reports.
11.   Provide training to PSA staff and its customers.
12.   Attend laboratory, production and quality control meetings.
13.   Attend training courses to develop relevant knowledge and skills.
14.   Adhere to the Health and Safety Policies of PSA and customer site.
15.   Adhere to ISO 9001 Quality Management System.
